Mechanism

Today, once more, I place together those sharp words behind doors,
I fix the microphone in the little puppy’s fur.
Today I gain one more kilogram of mistrust,
and sprinkle cruelty over the heads of passers-by.
Today once more I look like a savage beast,
and tomorrow…
I’ll paint the windows of the house
so passersby won’t notice the fragility of the walls.

The Mood of The Palm Tree

I simply changed my mind,
Perhaps because the horoscopes on the wings of Isis [1]
fought there and stirred the mood of the palm tree,
perhaps that outstretched hand wasn’t reached by temptation
before it could withdraw again… higher.
And yet, my escaped nails to the sun
bear traces of the old henna
and the ecstasy of those who have scratched the air.

Letters

The letters are not for you
Maybe they are for a stain on an old face,
For an inhalation waiting for a suitable exhalation,
For a coin before being thrown in a well,
you’re well suited for that talkative water
with its firm lid.

The letters are definitely not for you
although you may receive them every morning
in your email.

[1]. Isis : Ancient Egyptian goddess ( Aset, Eset ) who grew in importance, becoming one of the most important Egyptian deities as a healer and mourner who could bring the dead to life. It is she who roamed the lands to collect the torn pieces of the body of her husband/brother god Osiris who was killed by their evil god brother Set ( Seth ). For the modern Egyptian, the name of Isis has long been associated with life, rebirth or revival, kindness, and a wife’s loyalty to her husband.

Heba Esam is a poet from Egypt.
